The Sony Playstation Portable (PSP), is a handheld gaming device, similar in size to the Nintendo Game Boy or DS. However, size is where the similarity ends, as the Sony PSP has more features, and is designed for adults and children alike.

The PSP comes in black, and has a 16:9 widescreen TFT LCD screen which is centered in the unit. The dimensions are 170mm x 74mm x 23mm, which means the playstation portable fits comfortably in your hands. The unit has a sleek, ergonomic design which means that it can be used for hours without the hand cramps caused by other smaller, less comfortable units.

Aside from the many excellent games available for the system, the Sony PSP is a portable media system. It uses the easily available Memory Stick Duo cards for storage. It has a USB connection, allowing you to use the device as an external hard drive when hooked up to your PC. You can copy over image files or music files and access them easily.

The Sony PSP has a built in web browser and wi-fi internet access. You can use it to surf the web or to check email. It does have a text keyboard entry system (similar to a cell phone). This is built in.

The graphics are excellent, and the low volume problems (in the earliest models) have now been corrected. The Sony PSP is a solid choice for "go anywhere" entertainment.
