Transformers Ironhide
Although Transformers have been around for more than 20 years now because of the release of the Transformers movie this year a whole new generation of children have been introduced to these robots. So now they are now being introduced to Transformers Ironhide, Optimus Prime, Bumblebee and Jazz who were some of the first characters to appear in the animated series back in Eighties.
The original version of this particular Transformer toy produced by Diaclone Toys was in the form of vanette and came with a tiny figure who would sit in the driver's seat of it. But originally the toy did not come with a proper robot head but rather the seat behind would have a sticker placed on it which had a face and this with the windscreen was meant to represent the robots head.
But Ironhide from Transformers unlike many of the others did not actually translate well to the toy market and even so still remains one of the most well known of all the Autobots characters today. Even when the decision was made to reissue some of the Transformers toys as commemorative issues both Ironhide and Tailbreaker were not simply because of their poor sales when they were previously released.
Yet with the release of the Transformers Movie Ironhide whose image was changed from that of a vanette (mini van) based on a Dodge Caravan is now a pickup truck which is now made by Hasbro. Because of these changes it actually is able to convert from vehicle to robot more easily. Although not as tall as such toys a Bumblebee and Optimus Prime at 7 inches tall it is a great looking toy when placed in robot mode.
Once the toy has transformed to robot mode the child can utilize the two quad missile cannons at once and will allow them to fire 4 projectiles from them at once. But don't expect them to be cheap on average you are looking at having to pay around $35.00. So really with the latest versions of the Transformer toys now available these are more to be collected rather than played with.
The Transformers movie Ironhide as well as being much easier to convert from vehicle to robot mode than its predecessor. This particular one allows you to change the configuration of the robots shoulders. In the first position this particular toy uses its chest piece to help keep them in place. Whilst when placed into the second position the wheels sit outside them and form what would be it collarbones. Although the first position the shoulders are in look great when placed in the second it provides the toy with a much cooler look overall.
