Brain Age Nintendo DS
This is a game for grownups who want to train their brains. The game is designed for your Nintendo gaming system (you might have to kick the kids off in order to play!)- and is designed to be played for just a few minutes each day. Consisting of various puzzles, quizzes, and problems, the game pushes you to think fast, write faster, and find patterns in seemingly obscure items and combinations.
Designed by the research of Professor Ryuta Kawashima, a well-regarded Japanese neuroscientist, the game requires that you be familiar with the Nintendo DS, and be able to use it's various functions, including the touch screen and voice recognition.
You have to think and react quickly, and may be asked to solve problems of all kinds. For example, you might be asked to solve simple math problems, be asked to simultaneously count the people coming in and going out of a house, and you might be asked to read classic literature out loud, or to play a game of Sudoku, the famous number/puzzle game.
The game is designed to be played just a few minutes each day, which should make your children happy. You won't need to kick them off the console for hours on end. Because the problems are simple, this may even be a game you and your child can play together.
While some of the handwriting and voice recognition is not perfect, the game is still very good. Research shows that you can reduce the effects of aging on the brain by regularly engaging in stimulating mental activity. The puzzles and questions in Brain Age are just what the doctor ordered to keep your brain cells firing.
